DESCRIPTION:

Pretreatment of the fabricated elements requires a great deal of care as the ultimate quality and durability of the coating depends on it. Aluminum components for exterior application require wetchemical or electrochemical pretreatment, if necessary, after mechanical cleaning. The pre-treated components, when clean and completely dry, must be either powder coated immediately or within one day.

The quality guidelines published by AAMA, GSB, QUALICOAT and international norms which conform to EN, BS and ASTM must be observed precisely.

The fabricated elements must be treated with yellow or green chromate in accordance with EN 12487, either by immersion or spray
Chrome-free processes must be employed for pretreatment of fabricated elements. This requires the performance of laboratory and field tests beforehand. The quality must be at least equal that of chromating. Follow quality guidelines of AAMA, GSB, QUALICOAT and EN 12206-1 to the extent applicable.
The fabricated elements must be pre-treated by pre-anodization.

STEP 4: CHOOSE COATING SYSTEM

ONE-COAT SYSTEM - The minimum thickness in onecoat systems is 60 µm of non porous powder coating on corners and edges. On visible surfaces the coat must have an average coating thickness of at least 70 µm.
TWO-COAT SYSTEM - The minimum thickness in one-coat systems is 60 µm of non porous powder coating on corners and edges. On visible surfaces the coat must have an average coating thickness of at least 70 µm.

STEP 4: CHOOSE COATING SYSTEM

Due to the excellent corrosion resistance of zinc coatings, powder coatings are usually applied to galvanized steel work-pieces in a single coat.

The minimum thickness of powder coatings is 60 µm of porous-free coating on corners and edges. On visible surfaces it must have an average coating thickness of at least 70 µm.

All coat thicknesses must be measured according to ISO 2360.

The fabricated elements must be coated with the following TIGER Drylac^® Product Series.

Use TIGER products or materials of similar quality for coatings. The quality of other materials must be equivalent, especially with regard to the following points: Color and effect · Gloss and surface characteristics such as flow properties and texture · Resistance to weathering and anti-corrosion protection · Mechanical properties

STEP 4: CHOOSE COATING SYSTEM

Two-coat systems only should be used for exterior steel construction. The first coat is applied to the pre-treated steel substrate in the form of a powder primer, the second coat is a protective powder coat which is suitable for exterior applications.

In a two-coat system, the coating thickness must be 160 µm. The thickness of the primer coat should be at least 80 µm.

All coat thicknesses must be measured according to ISO 2360.

Because there is generally little risk of corrosion when used internally powder coatings are typically applied as one-coat.

The coating thickness on edges and corners should be at least 60 µm.

When a higher quality is required, especially with regard to corrosion protection and resistance to UV light, systems normally used for exterior applications should be employed.

All coat thicknesses must be measured according to ISO 2360.

The fabricated elements must be coated with the following TIGER Drylac^® Product Series.
